Hightrust.id for the authorities

The hightrust.id digital wallet enables risk-free identification and digital signatures for organizations. The digital wallet is a genuinely password-free, fast, effortless, and secure means of identification.

The digital certificates on the chip of either the police-issued ID card or the organization card issued by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency are transferred to the digital wallet, enabling them to be used on a smartphone, for example. For the time being, it is not possible to virtualize the organization card to the digital wallet as the HTID service does not include the VARTTI interface.

In accordance with the EU’s eIDAS compliance criteria, the hightrust.id technology is a LoA High identification and signature solution assessed and certified on the basis of the eIDAS criteria and accepted to the register of identification hightrust.id technology maintained by the National Cyber Security Centre of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency.

Using the digital wallet would significantly reduce security risks for organizations as it is significantly securer than the prevailing multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods. It can even eliminate the risk of username/password theft and misuse. Resistant to various types of phishing attacks, it even eliminates the risk of username theft.

For the authorities

The organization card issued by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency could be transferred to the hightrust.id digital wallet, eliminating the need for a physical card and a card reader, or the digital wallet could be used alongside them. The digital wallet would make using the organization card faster, more versatile, and simpler, and enable it to be used on the move.

The digital wallet enables the user to be biometrically authenticated using facial recognition, fingerprint, or an access code, preventing the misuse of traditional user IDs. The person performing the identification is always verified.
The hightrust.id solution is resistant to phishing as it does not rely on the traditional username/password method, but is based on organization card certificates, the use of which ensures the highest level of technical security for the identification event.

Applications and examples

Using the organization card with the digital wallet
Identification for official apps and using the digital wallet for signing instead of a physical organization card, also on the move, on shared computers, or on mobile devices.

Logging into office apps with the digital wallet
Risk-free identification to office applications without the traditional username and password method. Linking hightrust.id with the office applications and user registry used by the organization (e.g., Active Directory/EntraID) makes logging in faster and easier and significantly reduces security risks compared to, e.g., the username/password method.

Cost savings for Istekki Oy with the digital wallet
Istekki Oy selected the hightrust.id digital wallet as part of a reform aimed at delivering cost savings for Istekki’s customers in the social and healthcare sector. The goal of the reform is to replace existing office applications and environments with more affordable Google solutions and devices. Hightrust.id enables users to log in to Google applications without using their Google identity, which is typically only linked to the browser on the device and, as such, is not suitable for the purpose.

When using the hightrust.id digital wallet, users always use strong identification when logging into their device and the identity is linked to the certificates of the user’s organization card. What is more, the digital wallet eliminates the risk of traditional user IDs falling into the wrong hands.

More secure admin logins
The admin credentials used by admin users are absolutely critical for organizations. Using the hightrust.id digital wallet makes logging into systems more secure and minimizes the risk of misuse.
