Activation

Activation means starting to use the citizen certificate. During the activation, the user creates two (2) PIN numbers for the certificate.

The PIN codes related to the use of the citizen certificate:


Activation code
The activation code is used to activate the certificate. In addition, the activation code can be used later to change or unlock locked PIN codes.

Basic PIN (PIN1)
You can use the basic PIN to identify yourself in electronic services.

Signature PIN (PIN2)
You can use the signature PIN to sign electronically.

Electronic services:
Electronic services means using electronic services that require strong identification, such as MyTax or MyKanta. To sign into the electronic services of the authorities, you will need to use strong identification, e.g., your bank identifier, citizen certificate, or mobile certificate.

Electronic signature:
An electronic or digital signature verifies the identity of a person signing a message or information, for example. An electronic signature made with your citizen certificate is a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) corresponding to a handwritten signature.

Examples of electronic services include MyTax and MyKanta. To sign into official electronic services, you will need to use strong identification, such as your bank identifier, citizen certificate, or mobile certificate.
