How do you activate the app?

With which certificate cards can you use the app?
You can use the app with a police-issued ID card or a foreigner’s identity card. For the time being, the mobile app is not compatible with organization cards until a VARTTI interface has been created for the app. Social and healthcare organizations could use ID cards for regulated social welfare and healthcare professionals with the mobile app if legally permitted to do so.
Are there any device requirements applicable to the use of the app?

Which permissions from the device does the app require?
In order for the app to work, it requires the permission to scan card chips with NFC and use the camera to read QR codes. If biometric identification is enabled on the device, the app must be granted permission to use it. Otherwise you have to use the device access code.
What information does an ID card or certificate card share with the app?
The app reads the certificate data on the card.
Does the ID card or certificate card have to be valid?
The card has to be valid. When the card expires, the electronic identification token of the app stops working. Neither can you use an expired card to create a new identification token in the app.
Can you use the certificate card to identify yourself in all services requiring suomi.fi identification?
Yes
How secure is the app?
Approved by the National Cyber Security Centre, the app meets all the EU security requirements pertaining to electronic identification.
What do I do if my phone is lost or stolen?
Revoke the identification token in accordance with the revoking instructions and terms of use.
In the case of suspected misuse, can you check if your ID card or certificate card has been used?
All use creates the legally required log information that can be checked in the case of suspected misuse, for example.
Can you prevent the misuse of a certificate card, for example, in a situation where a person is in possession of another person’s ID card?
Certificate card misuse is prevented by the law, which bans ID cards and related PIN codes from being transferred to another person.
Does the app work abroad?
The app requires a working network connection.
Does it have an effect on the activation of the app if the ID card has been previously activated?
The ID card must be activated in order for the certificate to be added to the digital wallet.
Can you use the functions of the activated ID card, such as the signature function?
You have to enable the signature function separately in the app. After that, you can use the signature in all electronic services where the signature function has been enabled.
